Everyone should have needs to have an Emergency Kit at the ready. Experts say your kit should include all the basics that you would need for 72 hours; first aid supplies, food, water, etc. But what else do you put into your emergency kit?
Here at the Wolf, I’m the one responsible for the emergency preparedness kit. I always make sure that we have everything in the kit that we need, and that everything is up to date (food, water, and some first aid items have expiry dates). I also always include at least one treat in our emergency kit! The last time I restocked it was Gummy Bears (by request!). This time it’s M&M’s — the peanut ones — they are at least a tiny bit healthier; there’s protein in the peanuts, right? 😉
Everyone here at the station knows that there are treats in the emergency kit, and they think it’s awesome that I include a little something special in there. If we’re ever in the situation where we NEED to use that kit, any little tiny bright spot to look forward to would be very welcome! And in the meantime, everyone here is quite happy when it’s time to refresh and restock the emergency kit because they all know they’re getting a fun little snack at work as we celebrate not having to put the emergency kit into use for its intended purpose.
