I ride my bike to work as often as I can. If you hadn’t noticed, there are a lot of hills in Nanaimo. My ride to and from work is actually uphill both ways! I’m not kidding either — the elevation profile is kind of a “V” shape, but now I’m getting sidetracked… When you ride your bike on your commute, you are going slower than you are in a car (especially up those hills!), so you have a lot more time to look around and notice things, and you also have more time to think.
One of the things that I noticed this week while riding to work was how quickly it seems to change from Summer to Fall (or Autumn — do you say Fall or Autumn? I guess that’s for another post!😂).
It seems like it was just a few days ago that I was hot and sweaty on my rides to and from work wearing just a T-shirt and shorts. Now, it’s a much more comfortable ride since it’s so much cooler. I even put on a jacket now! That switch seemed to happen so quickly! Does the change from Spring to Summer happen that quickly too?
And of course, there’s the changing colours of the leaves. You get a much better chance to notice those changes when your commute is a little bit slower too.
I guess I’ll have to wait and see, but I don’t think the change from Fall to Winter happens as fast or is as drastic as the change from Summer to Fall.
