NANAIMO — Local Mounties are searching for a man wanted on a number of charges.
Antonio Charlie-Matias, 26, missed a late-September court appearance to answer to charges of assault, three counts of uttering threats and several counts of failing to comply with court orders and breaching probation.
All the charges are in relation to incidents on April 22 and 23 of this year where Charlie-Matias allegedly assaulted and threatened family members.
“Despite ongoing efforts, investigators have been unable to locate Charlie-Matias and warrants have been issued for his arrest,” Nanaimo RCMP noted in a short release.
Charlie-Matias is also accused of breaching a release order on May 21 and again on Sept. 3.
He’s described as 5’4, 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding Charlie-Matias’ location is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250 754 2345.
Charlie-Matias was previously jailed for two years in 2022 for sexual assault and telecommunicating to lure a child under the age of 16.
The charges stemmed from a June 2019 incident when a then-19-year-old Charlie-Matias sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl at a south Nanaimo school.
