NANAIMO — Work crews are preparing for another six-hour closure of traffic along Hwy. 4.
Beginning around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 and continuing through 3 p.m., both directions of travel along Hwy. 4 will be blocked off between the Port Alberni Summit and Chalet Rd, on the eastern side of Cameron Lake.
The closure is to allow crews time and space to complete repairs to the shoulder and bank erosion, as well as the removal of equipment.
“The work must take place during the day to ensure workers have the best visibility of overhead hazards,” the province noted in a release.
The project began in December with equipment being brought to the site during a full-day closure before Christmas.
Local emergency services have worked with the province to prepare for the closure, and report a process is in place to transfer patients in emergency situations during the closure.
Traffic control personnel will be stationed at both ends of the work site.
