NANAIMO — Mechanical issues on board the Coastal Inspiration are seeing a number of sailings either cancelled, or at risk of cancellation.
BC Ferries cancelled the first round trip on the route on Monday, Jan. 19, with the 10:15 a.m. departure from Tsawwassen and 12:45 p.m. sailing from Nanaimo’s Duke Point terminal also axed.
At risk of cancellation for the rest of Monday are crossings leaving Duke Point at 5:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m., as well as 3:15 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. trips leaving Tsawwassen.
A statement from the company said the cancellations are “due to a mechanical difficulty with the vessel’s main engine fuel pump,” and engineers are investigating the issue.
Travellers with reservations on the sailings will be contacted by BC Ferries’ customer support to arrange a refund or passage on another sailing.
Service between Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay is continuing as scheduled on Monday.
