QUALICUM BEACH — A 19-year-old man is accused of intentionally placing rocks in the driving lanes of the Inland Island Hwy. earlier this year, causing damage to several vehicles.
A charge of mischief over $5,000 has been laid against a Qualicum Beach man.
During the overnight hours between May 1 and 4, Oceanside RCMP were called to two separate incidents involving rocks of various sizes being placed on the highway between the Little Qualicum River Bridge and Corcan Rd.
At least five vehicles sustained damage while passing through the rock piles on Hwy. 19, which were reported to be between six to nine inches in size.
No injuries were reported.
The accused has his first court appearance scheduled for January 20 at Nanaimo Law Courts.
