NANAIMO — A BC Supreme Court trial to be heard by a jury will commence, likely next year in Nanaimo.
Desiree Dawn Mosher, 45, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 30-year-old Ryan Mosher.
His body was found in a central Nanaimo home on August 12, 2021.
Desiree Mosher was arrested in Kelowna by members of Nanaimo RCMP this past spring and has been in custody since June 7.
During a brief procedural court appearance in Nanaimo on Friday, Nov. 14, a lawyer on behalf of defence attorney Glenn Orris confirmed that the accused wished to proceed with a jury trial.
A two-day preliminary inquiry is tentatively scheduled to proceed, however, if the pretrial hearing does not take place, the trial would be accelerated.
No trial dates have been established.
The accused did not appear either in person or virtually during Friday’s appearance.
Desiree Mosher is expected to enter a not guilty plea during the opening of her trial.
Nanaimo Mounties have not disclosed where the homicide occurred, nor has it been revealed how Ryan Mosher died.
