QUALICUM BEACH — A person was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after an early morning collision in Oceanside.
Police, fire and paramedics were called out to Hwy. 19A, near the intersection with Boorman Rd. around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16 after a car travelling along the roadway hit a pedestrian.
Oceanside RCMP told NanaimoNewsNOW “the driver of the vehicle stopped and is cooperating with investigators. The pedestrian was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.”
Hwy. 19A remained closed for several hours Wednesday morning as an RCMP collision analyst attended the scene. Travellers in the area were diverted around the crash site.
Police in Oceanside noted the BC Highway Patrol division of the RCMP is assuming control of the investigation.
