NANAIMO — Already convicted of sexually assaulting a senior in Qualicum Beach and harassing women with threatening phone calls, a man awaits sentencing for a voyeurism offence.
Joel Perry, 39, pleaded guilty on Monday, July 15 at provincial court in Nanaimo to one count of secretly observing/recording nudity in a public place.
The offence took place in Parksville on June 19, 2022.
He was charged a little over a month ago.
Judge Tamara Hodge ordered a pre-sentence report and psychological assessment for Perry.
He’s expected to be sentenced later this year.
Perry is not in custody and had no comment for NanaimoNewsNOW after entering the guilty plea.
Perry was sentenced to eight months behind bars following a disturbing Aug. 19, 2019 sexual assault of a then 80-year-old woman along a wooded trail behind the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.
He was handed three years probation and assigned to the National Sex Offender Registry for a decade after pleading guilty to the incident.
Earlier that same year Perry was handed an 18-month non-custodial Conditional Sentence Order after he pleaded guilty to 32 charges related to making harassing and sexually explicit phone calls to women primarily on the Lower Mainland in 2017 and 2018.
