Dr. Olivia Mason is the dentist that made the news this week for giving that advice. She runs Almost Heaven Family Dentistry in the states and she gave that surprise advice in an interview with her local news. She says, technically speaking, eating all your candy at once is better for your teeth than having a few pieces a day for the next few weeks. One big sugar exposure with a good brushing after is better for your teeth than repeated exposures to sugar for days or weeks. The big trade-off in using that strategy for protecting your teeth, is that your stomach probably won’t like it very much. 🤢
She says the worst candy for your teeth is anything sticky or chewy, like Starburst or Jolly Ranchers. The sugar in chocolate isn’t great either, but at least it melts, and it’s also easier to brush away.
So, are you going to eat all your Halloween candy at once next year (if you didn’t do it that way this year 😉)?
