LADYSMITH — One person was flown to hospital for treatment following a serious collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist.
A statement from BC Emergency Health Services noted it received a call on Tuesday, Aug. 8 just before 1:50 p.m. in response to an incident on the Trans Canada Hwy. and Westdowne Rd.
“Two ambulances, an air ambulance and a supervisor responded. Paramedics cared for and transported one patient to hospital by air ambulance,” the BCEHS statement read.
No information about the cyclist’s condition or the circumstances surrounding what happened has been released from BCEHS or the RCMP.
The incident, which occurred between Ladysmith and Chemainus, severely tied up traffic in the area, particularly southbound vehicle movement.
Considerable delays were reported well into Tuesday afternoon for vehicles heading south.
The Drive BC highway cam pointing south on the TCH at South Davis Rd. showed considerable volume late Tuesday afternoon. (Drive BC)Join the conversation. Submit your letter to NanaimoNewsNOW and be included on The Water Cooler, our letters to the editor feature.
