LADYSMITH — An occupant of a vehicle had to be flown to hospital after a rollover in a large parking lot in rural Ladysmith.
Cpl. Alex Bérubé of the BC RCMP told NanaimoNewsNOW one of three passengers of an SUV doing donuts rolled over off the end of Ninatti Rd. Thursday, March 10 at about 8 p.m.
“One occupant of the vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries, but had to be aflown by BC Ambulance to be treated,” Bérubé said.
The vehicle’s other two occupants did not require hospitalization, Bérubé said.
“It was reported that vehicle was allegedly stunting in that area,” he said of the incident west of Cassidy.
The GMC Yukon landed back on its wheels.
An air ambulance landed at nearby Nanaimo Airport.
Bérubé said speed and alcohol appear to have played roles.
“There’s going to be an investigation done into the stunting pursuant to the Motor Vehicle Act and also a parallel investigation whereas alcohol may have been a contributing factor.”
