NANAIMO — The Clippers broke a 2-2 midway through the second period and cruised to a 7-2 win over the Grizzlies.
It was a strong game for Nanaimo’s offence led by two goals from Kai Daniells, three assists by Michael Craig and one goal and two assists for Sean Donaldson.
Goalie Jed Baliotti responded with a 38 save effort after a difficult night giving up six goals Jan. 21 against Cowichan.
Nanaimo never trailed in the contest leading 2-0 after the opening 20 minutes and 6-2 after the second period.
The final shots were 40-28 for Victoria with Cole Schwebius in for the five Clipper goals and Kyle Kelsey playing the second half of the game.
The Clippers went 2/5 on the man advantage and 5/6 killing penalties.
With the victory Nanaimo is 1-1 against Victoria in the season series with five of the final 21 games of the BCHL season head to head.
Those head to head games begin Jan. 27 at the Q Centre, the next game for both clubs.
After a week that saw the Clippers go 2-0-1 the team’s overall record was 20-11-1 good for third place in the Coastal Division.
