NANAIMO — John Barsby Secondary School has suffered a COVID-19 exposure for the second time during the pandemic.
The Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District confirmed an exposure at the school on Jan. 29.
It was one of the first secondary schools in Nanaimo to have a confirmed exposure event, back in early November. It was eventually upgraded to a cluster as more students contracted COVID-19.
John Barsby is the first Nanaimo school to have two separate COVID-19 exposure events.
It’s the fourth Nanaimo school in roughly one week to have a confirmed exposure.
The school district said Island Health has completed contact tracing.
