NANAIMO — Local mounties believe a prolific accused drug trafficker is deliberately evading arrests after failing to appear for an October court appearance.
Shai Ilan, 26-years old from Nanaimo, has 10 outstanding arrest warrants to his name for a range of drug-related offences including trafficking under the CDSA (two counts), possession for purpose of trafficking (four counts) and breaching the terms of his release conditions (four counts).
The charges come from multiple interactions with police between 2019 and 2020.
Ilan had a court date in Nanaimo on Oct. 2 but failed to appear and police believe he is actively hiding from officers.
He is described as a caucasian male, 5’11” and 180 pounds. If anyone sees Ilan, they’re asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 and quote file number 2020-1472.
Ilan has an extensive criminal record including charges of theft, mischief, assault and multiple breaches of conditions.
Police do not consider Ilan dangerous, however he had previously been found guilty on assault with a weapon charges in 2013.
