NANAIMO — A Nanaimo care home is standing in solidarity with a long-term care home currently suffering a COVID-19 outbreak.
Staff from the Eden Gardens dementia care clinic honked their horns and waved homemade signs at the Chartwell Malaspina long-term care home on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Chartwell Malaspina currently has six COVID-19 cases within two units on the first floor.
“I just know how difficult it has been for everyone I work with already,” Heather McEachern with Eden Gardens said. “If that was our building, I know it would definitely make all of us feel better if we had the support of the community and other care homes.”
McEachern previously worked at Chartwell Malaspina.
“I feel so bad for everyone I know who works and lives there.”
She said Eden Gardens staff will continue to drive by and show their support as the outbreak at Chartwell Malaspina continues.
Island Health continues to investigate the outbreak.
