NANAIMO – The number of schools in Nanaimo confirmed to have a COVID-19 exposure has grown.
Island Health and SD68 confirmed on Monday, Dec. 7 there was a COVID-19 exposure at Nanaimo District Secondary School. The exposure event lasted from Dec. 2 to Dec. 4.
Island Health is currently contact tracing.
Anyone who may have come in contact with the person during the exposure event will be contacted by Island Health.
This is the third COVID-19 exposure at a Nanaimo secondary school.
It’s the third school in two days to have had a confirmed exposure event.
The dates of the NDSS exposure event fall within the same time period as the other Nanaimo schools.
An exposure is defined as one confirmed case who did not have symptoms and attended the school during an infectious period.
Island Health is currently also tracking exposures in many Port Alberni schools from late November.
