NANAIMO – A 45-year-old Errington man has lost his life in a tragic ATV accident.
Emergency crews, including Nanaimo RCMP and Arrowsmith Search and Rescue, were called to a section of logging road west of Hwy. 19 around 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28.
Cst. Gary O’Brien said the man went over an embankment and died of his injuries before emergency services could arrive.
“The deceased had been travelling along a trail and lost contact with the front group and was attempting to catch up and look a wrong turn.”
Other members of the riding group performed CPR on the man for 30 minutes.
Drugs or alcohol are not considered factors in the crash, which O’Brien called a “tragic accident.”
