QUALICUM – A COVID-19 exposure event has been confirmed at Kwalikum Secondary School.
Island Health lists the exposure event as occurring on Nov. 18 and 19.
This is the first confirmed exposure within a SD69 school.
Anyone at risk of coming in contact with the affected student or staff member will have been called by Island Health.
This is the most recent school exposure for the mid-island area.
Several Nanaimo schools and one in Ladysmith have suffered singular or multiple exposures.
Island Health maintains the source of the transmissions in the Nanaimo area happened outside the school settings and schools are safe for students.
