NANAIMO – A local man is $2 million richer thanks in large part to a single loonie.
Brad Rowan won $1 on a Daily Grand ticket and put the winnings towards a BC/49 entry for the Oct. 28 draw.
Rowan’s matched all six numbers to take home a $2 million jackpot.
“I called my boss – I told him I was going to take the day off,” Rowan said on what he did after learning he’d won.
A forestry worker, Rowan and his partner will put the money towards mortgage payments on their new home, which they are in the final stages of purchasing.
Lottery luck has been on the side of people who have bought lottery tickets in Nanaimo for several years.
Rowan becomes the 17th person to buy a lottery ticket in Nanaimo since 2012 worth at least $500,000.
