NANAIMO – The number of COVID-19 cases within Island Health remains steady.
No new cases were announced within the health authority on Thursday, Sept. 24. This is the third straight day of no new cases – the first time since late July when no new cases were confirmed within a three day period.
The longest period with no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Island Health area was from May 8 to June 19.
A total of 203 people within the Island Health region have contracted COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
Six cases are currently active.
Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 148 new cases across B.C., the highest since Thursday, Sept. 14.
There’s currently 1,371 active cases of COVID-19 within all health authorities, a slight dip from the day before.
Dr. Henry confirmed two more fatalities.
