NANAIMO — The Clippers winning streak is up to five games after a 4-3 overtime victory in Powell River.
Nanaimo never led in the game but got the decisive goal in the extra session from Will St. James.
It was the second straight contest that St. James scored the game winner.
The Kings took three one goal leads on tallies from Brec Christenson, Grady Schaefer on the power play and Mark Konstantinov.
Elliot Perreault on the man advantage, Miller Kay and Charles Beland on the power play scored the goals that brought the Clippers back to even.
Nanaimo outshot Powell River 38-28 while connecting on two of four power plays and killing off six out of seven times shorthanded.
It was the first Clippers game to go beyond 60 minutes this season and the team’s fifth one goal win.
At the end of the day on Nov. 1 Nanaimo had a 10-5 record which was good enough for sole possession of first place in the Coastal West Division.
The Clippers now begin a five game home stand with games against Spruce Grove and Prince George on Nov. 6 and 7.
