NANAIMO — The Clippers have built up a four game winning streak after their latest victory, a 3-2 decision over the Chilliwack Chiefs.
A busy month of October came to a close for Nanaimo with 10 games in 24 days and an overall 6-4 record.
Tight one goal hockey has been a theme for the season and their win against the Chiefs was no different.
After giving up the first goal by Grant Reid on an early Chilliwack power play the Clippers struck back with three straight tallies to take over the contest.
Charles Beland scored his team leading 12th goal in the first period and defencemen Noah Caswell and Will St. James each scored their first BCHL goals 34 seconds apart in the middle frame.
Another power play goal by Reid concluded the scoring in the first minute of the third period.
The Clippers outshot the Chiefs 29-23 while going 0/2 on the man advantage and killing off just one of three Chilliwack power plays.
Hugo Laring earned his eighth win of the season over the Chiefs Noah Tegelaar.
Nanaimo is now 9-5 on the season and sit in a first place tie in the Coastal West Division with the Victoria Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies hold the tie breaker with fewer games played and a better winning percentage.
Nanaimo starts November with a game in Powell River on the first and then the team has a five game home stand.
Their victory over the Chiefs evens that season series at 1-1 while improving the Clippers record at Frank Crane Arena to 5-1.
