NANAIMO — A fifth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation once again sees the City host free events at three civic facilities on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Oliver Woods Community Centre and Nanamo Ice Centre (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Nanaimo Aquatic Centre (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) will be open free of charge for family-oriented recreation and arts-based events.

There were 140 federally run residential schools in Canada between 1867 and 1996.
Nanaimo’s Bastion structure will be lit-up orange Tuesday evening in recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
