NANAIMO — Crews are currently building a sizable independent seniors housing complex to complement a recently built neighbouring building in central Nanaimo.
Parkedge Manor will be a five-storey seniors housing complex located at 1125 Seafield Cres., near Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
A project estimated by BC Housing to be complete in 2027, Woodgrove Senior Citizens Housing Society will own and operate the units.

“The new building will provide more affordable housing options in the community, with 70 per cent of the homes offering rent geared to the income of residents. The remaining 30 per cent of homes will be available at market rates. The new homes will be made available to seniors and people with disabilities of all ages,” noted a statement from BC Housing.
Parkedge will be located beside phase one of a similar five-storey, 62-unit Sunfield Manor, which opened in August 2023.
A basement parkade will be included in the new build.
Both projects will be owned and operated by the Woodgrove Senior Citizens Housing Society.
Money through the B.C. government’s Community Housing Fund became available last year to make the Parkedge project a reality.
