NANAIMO — A key central Nanaimo intersection is closed for the time being followed a serious two-vehicle crash.
Nanaimo RCMP Res. Cst. Gary O’Brien said a collision ocurred at the Dufferen Cres./Boundary Cres. intersection on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 10:20 a.m. involving a B.C. Emergency Health Services ambulance and Chevrolet Cavallier.
He said circumstances leading up to the crash are being looked into.
“The vehicle that crashed, was a man who’s [now] in hospital with serious injuries. No injuries sustained to the EHS (Emergency Health Services) crew or the patient being transported.”
The busy intersection was closed, with alternate routes available to bypass the crash scene.
“Our members are on scene, the intersection is closed. Collision analysts are on scene, they have a drone out. We’re asking members of the public to stay away from that intersection.”
O’Brien estimated the intersection would re-open at about 1:45 p.m.
