CHILLIWACK — The Clippers had a hard time finding their offensive game at the BCHL Showcase.
Nanaimo was outscored 9-3 in two games versus Cranbrook and Salmon Arm.
Against the Silverbacks the Clippers were down 2-0 in the second period before Joel Plante converted on a rebound chance.
HIs fifth goal of the season made the game close but Salmon Arm pushed ahead with two markers in the final frame to win 4-1.
Plante was in on every Nanaimo scoring play at the Showcase finishing with a goal and two assists.
Patrick Raftery, Cole Cooksey, Payton Nelson and Roenick Jodoin scored for the Silverbacks.
Nanaimo was outshot 41-21 with Chazz Nixon taking the loss to Salmon Arm netminder Andrew Ballantyne.
On special teams the Clippers finished 1/2 on the man advantage and 4/4 killing penalties.
Heading into an Oct. 18 home game against Cowichan Valley, Nanaimo has a record of 3-5-1.
The Clippers won their only other meeting with the Capitals 4-1 back on Oct. 11.
