NANAIMO — After a pair of losses to open the BCHL campaign the Clippers had their offense firing in a 7-3 victory over the Kings.
Joel Plante had a goal and three assists, Cole Lonsdale notched a pair of goals plus a helper and Dylan Kinch had two goals in an impressive outing.
On the defensive side netminder Kyan Labbe made 37 saves to get his first BCHL win in his first start of the season.
The other Clipper goals were scored by Connor DeTurris and Andrew Brown while the Kings had markers from Jaxon Fuder, Thomas Belzil and Wyatt Davis.
Nanaimo led 2-1 after the first period and 5-3 after 40 minutes before locking the game down and added two more goals in the third.
The Clippers power play was excellent going 3/5 while Nanaimo also went 3/4 killing penalties.
The Kings outshot the Clippers 40-29 on the night.
With the win Nanaimo is now 1-1-1 to start the season while Powell River drops to 0-3-1.
The Clippers have a pair of road games in Langley on Oct. 1 and Surrey Oct. 2 before returning home to face Victoria on Friday Oct. 4.
