NANAIMO — A crash involving a semi-trailer and another vehicle has closed traffic in both directions along the Nanaimo Parkway.
The incident happened just before 6 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19 and involved a large commercial semi-truck and a car travelling in the northbound lanes, just south of the overpass.
Callers to NanaimoNewsNOW said as of 6:30 a.m., traffic in both directions was being re-routed.
Northbound traffic was being diverted to continue along Hwy. 1 near the Cedar Rd. junction in Chase River, while southbound traffic was being sent down Fifth St. and through Harewood.
It’s unclear what led to the incident, or what injuries occurred as a result.
Drivers are asked to avoid the Nanaimo Parkway if possible and travel along the Old Island Hwy.
