NANAIMO — The Clippers played a complete game in a 6-2 victory over the Rivermen.
Eleven different players had points but Connor Haynes was at the head of the class with a two goal and one assist performance.
It was a tight game through twenty minutes with Gabriel Westling and Langley’s Oskar Komarov exchanging goals before Haynes sniped his tenth goal of the season three minutes before the intermission break.
Haynes added another goal in the middle frame.
The third period was eventful with Michael Murtagh and Connor DeTurris giving the Clippers a 5-1 lead before Tuukka Heiskanen tallied on a five on three power play.
Nanaimo sealed the game with a Dylan Kinch marker with 30 seconds to play.
Defenceman Isa Parekh was given a five minute penalty for a check to the head and a game misconduct in the third and both Liam Rodman (against Dalton MacGillivray) and Grant Babcock (versus Logan Morrell) were involved in fights.
At the end of the game the Clippers only had three defenceman playing and supplemental discipline may keep Parekh, Rodman and Babcock on the sidelines for Nanaimo’s next game Feb. 17 in Victoria.
Nanaimo outshot Langley 40-24 and went 0/4 on the man advantage and 1/5 killing penalties.
The Clippers will take a two game winning streak in their game at the Q Centre on Feb. 17.
Nanaimo is 4-1 against the Grizzlies this season.
