NANAIMO — The Clippers finished the month of January with a 1-0 road loss to the Powell River Kings.
Anthony Yu scored on a first period power play but from there the Clippers Tyler Hodges and the Kings Vincent Lamberti slammed the door shut.
Lamberti finished with a 29 save shutout and Hodges stopped 32 shots on the night.
Nanaimo went 0/2 on the man advantage and 3/4 killing penalties with both teams keeping the Grade A chances to a minimum all night long.
The Clippers loss saw Michael Murtagh’s 12 game point streak come to an end and also ended a run of five straight games with a goal for Luke Buss.
It was the first time Nanaimo has been shutout this season as the Clippers finished January with a 3-2 record.
Nanaimo’s season series record against the Kings sits at 4-2.
They have one more head to head game on Feb. 3 at Frank Crane Arena.
The Clippers next game is Feb. 2 at home versus the West Kelowna Warriors.
