NANAIMO — Accessibility has been enhanced to help people without a ride of their own to get out and vote.
BC Transit announced many local governments around the province decided to provide free transit on Saturday, Oct. 15, including the Regional District of Nanaimo, which has a public transit system spanning between Cedar and Bowser.
Handy Dart service is included, while the Nanaimo-Cowichan Express route is not included in the free ride offer.
Offering complimentary public transit is seen as a way to make it easier and encourage people to vote.
General Local Elections take place around the province on Saturday, Oct. 15, where local governments and school boards will be shaped for the next four years.
