NANAIMO — The traffic stop of a man well known to local Mounties yielded a substantial bust.
Officers pulled over a vehicle at the 7-Eleven parking lot on the corner of Townsite Rd. and Terminal Ave. around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19.
The driver, known to Nanaimo RCMP, did not have a valid drivers license and was in the vehicle with two others who police said are entrenched in the local drug trade.
Inside the vehicle were substantial quantities of crystal meth, crack cocaine, GHB and nearly 150 prescription pills. The drugs were seized by police.
Also taken was $385 in cash, cellphones, a digital scale and five replica handguns.
Nanaimo RCMP estimate the value of the drugs in the car was upwards of $40,000.
All three were arrested, but later released pending further charges once the items have been throughly analysed.
