NANAIMO — Operations are returning to normal at a pair of local long-term care homes.
Island Health said on Saturday, Jan. 15 no further transmission of COVID-19 had been detected through follow up testing and they were comfortable declaring outbreaks at Eden Gardens and Kiwanis Village Lodge over.
Both outbreaks were announced by the health authority on Jan. 5 after cases were detected amongst both residents and staff.
In both cases, the scope of the outbreak remained confined inside the individual unit or floor where it was first detected.
Island Health said a combined five residents tested positive at both sites.
Nanaimo has one ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, at Dufferin Place near NRGH. It was confirmed Thursday, Jan. 13.
Nine residents tested positive at Dufferin, leading to the outbreak being confirmed by the health authority.
