NANAIMO — The Clippers were down 2-0 six minutes into the game and couldn’t recover in a 4-2 loss to Langley.
Tristan Fraser scored Nanaimo’s first goal midway through the opening period but a few minutes later former Clipper Tyler Schleppe’s second of the night gave the visitors a 3-1 lead they would never give up.
Cooper Black and Langley’s Ajeet Gundarah shut the door between the pipes in the second period until the Clippers finally broke through in the final frame.
Austin Spiridakis scored a power play deflection early in the third but Nanaimo could not get any closer.
Another former Clipper Max Dukovac capped the scoring with a turnaround shot that fooled Black with under three minutes to play.
The final shots were 33-28 for Nanaimo with the Clippers going 1/5 on the man advantage and 3/3 killing penalties.

Langley has won both games in the season series and solidified their grasp on first place in the Coastal Division.
Nanaimo’s record falls to 18-11 as the team looks ahead to a Jan. 19 contest in Alberni Valley.
