PORT ALBERNI – A 4-3 win over Cowichan Valley means the Clippers will end the BCHL season in third place in the Island Pod.
It also keeps alive the possibility of finishing at the .500 mark with two games remaining.
Goalie Jordan Naylor led the way with a 47 save performance and was named the first star while rookie Brendan Carlson notched his first BCHL goal to go along with an assist.
The other Nanaimo goal scorers Nolan Hutcheson, Michael Craig and Liam Ryan all tallied in their second consecutive contest.
The game was scoreless after 20 minutes, Nanaimo led 2-1 after two, and upped their lead to 4-2 before a late Capitals goal added some drama to the affair in the final few minutes.
The win gives the 8-10 Clippers five wins in six tries against Cowichan this season with the final head to head matchup on May 8.
Nanaimo will wrap up the season against Alberni Valley on May 11.
