NANAIMO – A local elementary school has experienced a new COVID-19 exposure.
A late night tweet from School District 68 on Saturday, April 10, confirmed an exposure event at Fairview elementary school on Friday, April 9.
It’s the first exposure event connected directly with the school.
Two Nanaimo high schools, Wellington and Nanaimo District secondary remain on Island Health’s school exposure list following events during the first week of school after spring break.
A further two schools in SD69, Ballenas in Parksville and Kwalikum secondary in Qualicum Beach also recently reported cases.
The Vancouver Island COVID Rapid Response team, headed by SD68 said in late March an increase in exposure events was likely following spring break.
