NANAIMO – A mental health crisis inside a north Nanaimo home escalated to the point of a weapon going off and hitting someone inside.
Nanaimo RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien confirmed to NanaimoNewsNOW a weapon went off in a home on Groveland Dr. around 6 a.m. on Saturday, April 3 and hit someone inside the home.
He said the person who fired the weapon was in the midst of a mental health crisis at the time. The person left the home after firing the weapon.
They were quickly apprehended by police without incident and taken into custody.
The person who was hit was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
The incident drew a significant police presence.
There’s no word on charges being considered at this time.
