NANAIMO — The only road access to and from Tofino and Ucluelet will close for an extended period of time for ongoing construction work.
Hwy. 4 at Kennedy Hill will close for 10 hours on Tuesday, March 23 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A notice from the ministry of transportation and infrastructure said the blast work being done during the closure is “one of the most complex” in the lengthy project to widen the road.
The daily closures from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will resume the following day.
Travellers to the west coast have endured significant delays as construction continues. The work was supposed to finish in the summer of 2020, but was delayed several times before the COVID-19 pandemic began.
There’s no estimated completion date.
