QUALICUM BEACH — A man was flown to hospital with a significant stab wound after an altercation at a campground got out of control.
The incident ocurred at Riverside Resort in Qualicum Beach on Hwy. 19A around 4 p.m. on Boxing Day, Dec. 26.
Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman said a man pulled out a knife during a fight and stabbed a 46-year-old man.
“The accused, a 27-year-old man, was cooperative with police and has since been released on an undertaking with several conditions,” Foreman told NanaimoNewsNOW.
He said the victim is expected to fully recover.
An assault with a weapon charge is now pending against the suspect, who is not in custody.
The primary release condition is not making any form of contact with the victim.
The accused is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Nanaimo on January 26, 2021.
The victim’s family and the accused are both residents of the resort.
