NANAIMO – Another large spike in new COVID-19 cases across B.C. while the Island Health region suffers much smaller increases.
A joint statement from the province on Friday, Nov. 6 confirmed 589 new cases of COVID-19 across B.C., with the majority in the Fraser Health region.
Five new cases were found within Island Health, a slight decrease from the day before.
Island Health data showed there are now 30 active cases within the health authority from 26 the day before, meaning one person who was active now tests negative.
The number of active cases within central Vancouver Island, covering the Nanaimo and Parksville areas, remains at 6.
The number of people in hospital across B.C. crossed the 100 mark at 104, with 28 people in intensive care.
Two additional fatalities were confirmed, bringing the number of lives lost to COVID-19 in B.C. to 275.
Six new outbreaks in health-care facilities were announced throughout the Lower Mainland.
