NANAIMO – Island Health sustained one of the largest daily increases in COVID-19 cases.
Five new cases were confirmed by the health authority on Tuesday, Nov. 3. This is the largest increase during a weekday since Sept. 14, which was also five. At the beginning of the pandemic, new cases reached a high of eight.
There’s currently 18 active cases, the highest since the early days of the pandemic. Each region of Island Health saw an increase in active cases, sharing six apiece.
This brings Island Health to 270 total COVID-19 cases.
Across the province, an additional 299 cases were confirmed with slightly more than 3,000 considered active.
There’s 92 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 22 in intensive care.
A further three fatalities were announced, bringing B.C.’s death toll to 272.
