NANAIMO – Numerous targeted searches and street stops netted a significant amount of illicit goods.
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit’s gang team worked with Nanaimo RCMP and other detachments for a recent four day operation.
More than 50 people connected to street-level drug trades were searched. Knives, a rifle, a shotgun, a crossbow, a sword, over $15,000 in cash and “substantial quantities” of fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin were found.
The unit worked with local detachments to specifically target local crime hot spots.
“These results show some of the excellent pro-active work completed by the teams in an effort to disrupt organized crime activity in our communities,” Cpl. Chris Manseau said in a release.
The release said such high-profile and visible enforcement will help deter criminals and ease community concerns about public safety.
