PARKSVILLE – Oceanside RCMP believe a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was seen in the area.
Mounties searched a rural area in Parksville on Friday, Oct. 23 after reports of a suspicious man in the woods who was dressed in full camouflage with a rifle slung over his shoulder.
The call came from two hikers who spotted the man near Little Mountain Rd. and Allsbrook Rd.
The hikers later contacted police after seeing a news story regarding Jordan Jay Ward, who is currently wanted for manslaughter in Calgary.
The two thought the man they saw had a striking resemblance to Ward.
The RCMP Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services were called in and tracked the area for several hours but could not find the man.
Ward, 20 years old, is described caucasian, 5’9.5″ and 165 lbs.
Oceanside RCMP are urging everyone to be cautious and do not approach Ward if you see him.
