NANAIMO – The number of COVID-19 cases in Island Health continues a steady march upwards.
Two new cases were confirmed by provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
There’s been 237 cases within Island Health since the beginning of the pandemic.
The number has consistently risen by one or two new cases a day in recent weeks.
Across the province, Dr. Henry confirmed an additional 158 new cases for a total of 10, 892 cases. B.C. is expected to cross the 11,000 case mark by the end of the week.
The number of active cases rose slightly to 1,496.
An additional seven people are hospitalized at 84, though the number of of people in intensive care remains unchanged at 24.
No new deaths or outbreaks were confirmed on Wednesday.
