NANAIMO – New COVID-19 cases in the province continue to be reported at a steady rate.
A statement from provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry confirmed 96 new cases on Tuesday, Sept. 22, none of which are in the Island Health region.
No new COVID cases regionally on Tuesday follows the seven new cases of COVID-19 reported over the previous three days.
The seven cases marked the highest amount of new cases reported after a weekend.
The number of active cases within Island Health dropped by three to eight.
There’s now a total of 8,304 COVID-19 cases throughout B.C., predominantly in the Lower Mainland.
No new COVID related deaths were reported in the province, while 61 people are in hospital, including 22 people receiving intensive care, up slightly from the day before.
There’s now nearly 1,500 active cases of COVID-19 across B.C.
