End of life care on Vancouver Island will be expanded.

The Vancouver Island Health Authority is currently reviewing its palliative care strategy and VIHA's Director of Home and Community Care and End of Life Lois Cosgrove says public consultations are slated to begin with a couple of months.

Cosgrove says palliative care needs to be expanded with an aging populuation.

She says changes will include more services in rural areas of Vancouver island.

Cosgrove adds its not known when the new end of life strategy will be adopted.
